Accessible Arts And Media is a registered charity based in Clifton, York, running arts and creative media learning projects in and around the city since 1982. We believe that everyone can learn, be creative, and play a part in their local community—with the right support, which we provide.
A diverse range of people participate in our projects, including disabled adults and young people, older individuals with dementia and memory loss, and those experiencing mental ill-health. We also collaborate with schools, community groups, and local businesses.
We offer a variety of fun, inclusive creative learning programmes, from singing and signing choirs to specialist sensory activities that support wellbeing, accessible music-making groups, and creative sensory activities involving music and movement.
Our young people’s project, Inclusive Music Project (IMPs), is participating in Sweet Legacies by working with facilitators to create different types of music.
They jointly ran a fully inclusive holiday club during May half term, where participants developed movements and musical soundscapes inspired by Rowntrees.
Additionally, the termly Senior IMPs group collaborated with a Sweet Legacies facilitator to create folk songs celebrating the legacy of Rowntrees.
