Tang Hall SMART is a music, arts and sport community organisation that runs classes, clubs, activities and events. We offer creative and personalised learning programmes for young people with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) as well as creative clubs, classes and programmes for people who have struggled with mental health, homelessness and/or addiction. We also work with adults who have additional needs.
Our Level 3 Drama students have been involved with Sweet Legacies this term, working with a community craft group to share stories about growing up, growing old and everything in between. They chatted about mental wellbeing, what York means to them, and ate lots of cakes in the process!
The students came up with creative ways to retell some of these stories, in a variety show style performance, which will be combined with the ‘cuppa and a chit-chat’ morning to make a short film about the community we have created. There’s jokes, pig puppets, a Shakespeare monologue about sprouts and everything in between!
