Homestead Park is a beautiful 14-acre garden in Clifton, York. It is owned, managed and maintained by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. The park was opened in 1904 by Seebohm Rowntree.
Hosted by York Theatre Royal, the Homestead Park Pavilion Writing Group offered adults of all writing levels the chance to unlock their creativity in a uniquely inspiring setting. Set against the serene backdrop of Homestead Park and enriched by the legacy of Rowntree Heritage, the group invited participants to explore the natural beauty and historical depth of the park as a source of inspiration.
Each session combined guided writing techniques, collaborative exploration, and the peaceful atmosphere of the park to encourage imagination and creative growth. Writers were encouraged to wander the grounds, drawing ideas from the sights, sounds, and stories woven into the landscape.
Whether participants were emerging writers or simply seeking a fresh outlet for creative expression, the group provided a welcoming space to experiment with new techniques, share their work, and connect with fellow creatives.
Each gathering became a celebration of storytelling, community, and the powerful link between people and place—a time to write, reflect, and reimagine the world, one word at a time.
