Join us to celebrate the launch of her debut novel, A Very Vexing Murder, where we meet the tyrannical Mrs Churchill who is convinced someone is trying to kill her… But it’s unclear whether she is more concerned about a possible murderer or the fact that Jane Fairfax has won the heart of her nephew, Frank.
Either way, she has hired the talented and devious Harriet Smith to break up this nascent relationship as well as uncover who might want her dead.
With the help of her long-suffering, sensible best friend, Robert Martin, Harriet’s list of suspects soon grows – Frank Churchill, Jane Fairfax, Mrs Elton and Wakefield the butler all have means, motive and opportunity.
Will Harriet prevent the worst from happening? And will she avoid falling for the charming Frank Churchill herself?
This is a murder most Austen, and Harriet Smith is just the girl to solve it!
Lucy Andrews is a crime writer and crime fiction scholar who has an unhealthy fixation with Jane Austen. She has a PhD in English Literature from Cardiff University and was a Senior Lecturer in English Literature before leaving academia to concentrate on her writing. She lives in Wolverhampton with her septuagenarian tortoise (and her husband).
