York Opera Return with another Gilbert and Sullivan

Sir Marmaduke Pointdextre invites you to attend afternoon tea in the formal gardens of Ploverleigh Hall to celebrate the happy betrothal of his only son Alexis to Miss Aline Sangazure, daughter of Lady Annabella Sangazure. R.S.V.P. Ploverleigh Hall.

First performed in 1877, The Sorcerer was Gilbert and Sullivan’s first full-length comic opera. Based on one of Gilbert’s short stories. A love at first sight elixir is mixed into the celebration tea by a sorcerer – John Wellington Wells. Mayhem follows as the
assembled guests fall under the magic spell. What could possibly go wrong?

To celebrate this production of The Sorcerer, we’ll be offering a spellbinding afternoon tea before the show. Expect the full works with sandwiches, scones and sweet treats. Just £19.95 per person. Keep your eyes peeled for more details.
