The Improv Gym is back in 2024 and this time with a full 6-week course. The programme of (jam-packed and joy-stuffed) workshops will teach the fundamentals of improv through to the creation of a fully-improvised performance. It will use a combination of short-form games and exercises to train the creative muscles necessary for successful improvised performance. We will cover creativity, collaboration and community, commitment, character and, of course, comedy.

The course is led by improviser and facilitator, Paul Birch, who trained at the legendary Second City and I.O. He created the long-running improv show Right Here, Right Now and regularly performs with Yorkshire’s own Fool(ish). This year will also see him to return to his improv roots and perform on a Chicago mainstage with its longest running Improv team, Deep Schwa.

Every Thursday from 22 Feb to 28 March. Sessions last two hours from 7.30pm – 9.30pm

Where is it?

The Billiard Room in De Grey House, just next door to YTR on St Leonard’s Place. The space is accessed via two flights of stairs, please let us know if you have any access requirements upon booking.
