Join us for an innovative panel discussion with Isabelle Keynon, CEO of Fly on the Wall Press.

Isabelle will be joined by two of her authors, Amy Lilwall and John Ironmonger, to discuss Sci-Fi and writing in response to the current climate crisis.

Isabelle Keynon is the managing director of Manchester publishing house ‘Fly on the Wall Press’, and was named a Leader of the Year by the Bookseller in 2025. Founded in 2018, she had led Fly on the Wall Press to win Small Press of the Year at the British Book Awards 2024 (North), achieving finalist status five times in the years 2021-2025. She built an MA module ‘Publishing in the 21st Century’ for Artist University Bournemouth, and is the author of psychological thriller The Dark Within Them and poetry collections including Growing Pains (Indigo Dreams). She also runs the Northern Publishers Fair.

Born and raised in the South East of England, Amy Lilwall spent several years teaching English in France before returning to the UK to complete her PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Kent. Now a teacher in Creative Writing at the University of Lincoln, she has a passion for imagining odd scenarios and alternative realities, often exploring themes of power imbalance and injustice in her work. Lilwall’s debut novel, The Biggerers (Point Blank, One World), established her as a voice to watch in speculative fiction. She co-produces the ‘On Silence’ literary podcast and serves as a guest editor for ‘The Lit’ literary journal.

John Ironmonger was born and grew up in East Africa. He has a doctorate in zoology and was once an expert on freshwater leeches. He is the author of The Good Zoo Guide and the novels The Notable Brain of Maximillian Ponder (Shortlisted for the 2012 Costa First Novel Prize and the Guardian’s Not the Booker Prize), The Coincidence Authority and The Whale at the End of the World (an international bestseller). He has also been part of a world record team for speed reading Shakespeare, has driven across the Sahara in a £100 banger, and once met Jared Diamond in a forest in the middle of Sumatra.
