This July join Kevin, kangaroo and wombat, in an Australian Outback adventure at York Theatre Royal, as they learn that “life can be great when you try something new!”
Based on the award-winning picture book by Rachel Bright & Jim Field, published by Hachette Children’s Group, this brand-new adaptation for stage of The Koala Who Could is directed by Emma Earle (Oi Frog & Friends!), with music and lyrics by Eamonn O’Dwyer (The Lion Inside).
This empowering and chuckle-out-loud story is about embracing change – whether we like it or not. “In a wonderful place, at the breaking of dawn, where the breezes were soft and the sunshine was warm, a place where the creatures ran wild and played free … A Koala called Kevin clung to a tree.”
The cast features Danny Hendrix (Wombat/Storyteller 1) whose latest appearances include 101 Dalmatians the Musical (UK/Ireland Tour), War Horse (National Theatre UK/International Tour) and Gangsta Granny (Birmingham Stage Company – West End/UK Tour). Sarah Palmer (Cossowary/Storyteller 2) who starred in Jekyll and Hyde (The Barons Court Theatre), Anne of Green Gables (Midlands Arts Centre), and Friends Live (UK and Ireland Tour). Christopher Finn (Kevin/Storyteller 3) with recent credits including A Christmas Carol (Creation Theatre), Paddington Lo-Commotion (Blenheim Palace) and Grimm (SugarPunch) and Hannah Miller (Alternate/ASM) whose credits include Boxville (Cardboard Adventures), Tall Stories’ Room on The Broom and The Tiger Who Came to Tea (UK tour).
“Fabulous rhymes, I’m in love with Kevin.” Claudia Winkleman
The Koala Who Could is at York Theatre Royal from the 03 July to 05 July.
