York Theatre Royal’s Travelling Pantomime

This Christmas, our pantomime is going places. We’ll be visiting every one of York’s 21 wards with a show like no other. But which panto will be performed? We’ll let you decide! At the start of each performance, we’ll be asking the audience to choose between three different panto favourites; Dick Whittington, Jack and the Beanstalk and Aladdin. Yes, you read that right. We’re not mad (oh, yes you are!).

Join us at a community centre/church hall/grandma’s front room/garden shed near you for some socially-distanced and down-right daft festive fun.

Our Executive Director, Tom Bird, said: “Our Travelling Pantomime will be a rip-roaring Christmas treat for the whole family. Audiences can expect hilarity and chaos, music and magic as our amazing actors visit every corner of York.”

Award-winning pantomime writer Paul Hendy is writing three scripts with the actors performing whichever show the audience choose on the night. Our Travelling Pantomime will feature a cast of local actors including much-loved entertainer and magician Josh Benson.

The show will be directed by York Theatre Royal’s Associate Director Juliet Forster.

Full details, dates and venues will be announced soon. Tickets will go on sale in November.

What about Cinderella, our 2020/21 pantomime?

Cinderella shall go to the ball (just slightly late!)

We have made the difficult but necessary decision to reschedule our planned 2020/21 pantomime, Cinderella, to new performance dates in 2021/22.

We are working with a (very!) reduced Box Office team so please don’t contact us about your booking. We will be in touch with all ticket holders with the option to move tickets to next year or cancel the booking.

It will take us a couple of weeks to get this sorted so please bear with us. Thank you in advance for your patience.
