York Theatre Royal’s new Associate Company, Badapple Theatre bring Crumbs to the YTR Studio

York Theatre Royal are thrilled to announce that Badapple Theatre Company will be joining the theatre as Associate Company for 2026/27.  The York based company tour their original productions nationwide, delighting audiences of all ages, bringing high quality theatre to remote locations.

The Associate Company benefit from twelve months of tailored practical support and resources to help nurture their creative work. This can include anything from use of the theatre space and performance opportunities to mentorship and guidance on all aspects of theatre making.

Badapple Theatre Company celebrates the start of their year as Associate Company with Crumbs, a hilarious one-woman comedy, written by Kate Bramley, which comes to the York Theatre Royal Studio in May.

Ex-TV baking star Petronella Parfait is out of a job and out of her depth, trying to reinvent herself in the cutthroat world of social media influencers. Can she keep the lights – and the oven – on as her live come-back show descends into delicious disaster?

Starring Ellen Carnazzan as Petronella Parfait, expect big laughs, bold flavours, and a tasty treat for the audience at the end.

Kate Bramley, writer and Badapple Theatre Artistic Director said, “We so delighted to be invited to become Associate Company at York Theatre Royal this year. And we are having so much fun touring this outrageous show. It amazes me every time to see Ellen Carnazza captivate audiences with the ruthless Petronella, and play five other supporting characters, some at the same time, while baking bread in front of our very eyes! Join us at York Theatre Royal Studio this May, and see for yourselves!”

Crumbs is at York Theatre Royal from 20 May – 23 May.
