Meet our sponsor: Black Sheep Brewery

A huge thank you to our friends at Black Sheep Brewery who have sponsored our community production The Coppergate Woman – and helped to make this fantastic show happen. Here’s a little more about what they do and their two fabulous York-based pubs!

In 1992, Paul Theakston took a daring leap into the unknown. As a fifth generation brewer of his family company, he chose to leave T&R Theakstons following its sale to a national brewery. Instead, he chose to champion independent brewing in Yorkshire and built his own brewery from reclaimed equipment in the very same town, Masham. Paul is the Black Sheep.

Set in an old maltings overlooking the town, the brewery was built using brewing kit sourced from old breweries plus a lot of heart and soul.  The very same equipment is still used to this day, brewing the hugely popular Black Sheep beers that are available across the nation.

Their award-winning range of beers is an eclectic mix of classic and modern styles as they continue to champion innovation whilst staying true to their traditional roots.

They brew beer in cask, keg, bottle, can and mini-keg and constantly strive to create beers that excite drinkers.

Visit them in York

The Three-Legged Mare – 15 High Petergate
An award-winning pub just a stone’s throw away from us here at York Theatre Royal and York Minster! Known locally as the ‘Wonkey Donkey’, the pub offers eight cask ales and 9 craft beers.

Last Drop Inn – 27 Colliergate
A fantastic location on Kings Square where there are regular street entertainers and a great place to people watch.

You can also get Black Sheep Brewery beers in our bar so be sure to join us before seeing a show to try them out!
