Meet Adrian Hansel, starring in Military Wives – The Musical

We caught up with Adrian Hansel, who will be playing Luke in Military Wives – The Musical which has its world premiere at York Theatre Royal this September.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in a lovely small village called Stoke Poges which is near Windsor.

What drew you to this project and what do you find most exciting about it?

I was initially involved in the workshop stages of the project. I found the subject matter interesting and thought the story was beautiful, heartwarming and hopeful. Debbie, the director is also very passionate, so I really wanted to continue this journey with her.

What are you looking forward to about coming to work in York?

I love York! York reminds me of Windsor, it’s so pretty so I am looking forward to spending a lot of time there.

What was your favourite past performance, and why?

My favourite past performance of my own was playing Seaweed J. Stubbs in the original cast of Hairspray on the West End.

My favourite performance that I’ve seen recently was Denise Gough in People, Places and Things, I was blown away by her performance. I also saw our very own Rachael Wooding in Standing at the Sky’s Edge and her performance was breathtaking.

What do you do when you’re not performing?

I love going to the gym and I’m also a huge record collector! I have vinyl records from all over the world.

Favourite karaoke song?

It would have to be Stevie Wonder – Overjoyed

Military Wives – The Musical  will be at York Theatre Royal from 10 Sep – 27 Sep.
