Tommy Carmichael returns to York Theatre Royal for panto this festive season

Audience favourite Tommy Carmichael will be heading back to York this festive season to appear in this year’s spellbinding family pantomime Sleeping Beauty  at York Theatre Royal.

Tommy, who previously appeared in the 2024 York Theatre Royal pantomime Aladdin as Charlie, will be back this time playing Jangles.

Tommy joins the fabulous cast which includes CBeebies star, Jennie Dale, who will play Fairy Moonbeam. Tommy will also be reunited with Robin Simpson (his onstage mother last year!) who also returns for Sleeping Beauty as Nurse Nellie.

Doncaster born Tommy’s theatre credits include Timternet in Big Strong Man (National Tour), Charlie in Aladdin (York Theatre Royal, York) Silly Willy in Robin Hood (The Maltings, Ely), Chief Weasel in The Wind In The Willows (National Tour), “Himself” in Big Strong Man (CAST, Doncaster), Buttons in Cinderella (The Maltings, Ely), Queen of Hearts in Alice In Wonderland (National Tour) and Bagheera in The Jungle Book (National Tour).

The show is written by Paul Hendy, directed by Juliet Forster and co-produced with award-winning Evolution Productions – the team behind previous York pantomime hits All New Adventures of Peter Pan, Jack and the Beanstalk and last year’s Aladdin.

Juliet Forster, Creative Director at York Theatre Royal, said: “Tommy was such a hit with audiences last year in Aladdin and we are delighted to have him back with us for Sleeping Beauty! We have lots of fun and hilarity planned, so don’t miss your chance to see the show this year.”

Sleeping Beauty is at York Theatre Royal from 2 December to 4 January. With stunning costumes, gorgeous sets, dazzling special effects and lots of hilarious jokes, Sleeping Beauty is set to be a festive treat for the whole family.
