WENDY & PETER PAN: MEET THE CAST

Main Stage Summer has officially begun! 35 young people started rehearsals this week for the York Theatre Royal Youth Theatre production of Wendy and Peter Pan.

Ahead of the show opening next month we caught up with Captain Hook (Molly) and some of her pirates, to find out why the talented young cast love performing and what magic audiences can expect from the show.

What made you want to take part in Main Stage Summer?

Harper: I have a passion for acting!

Gaia: I want to show my skills and have fun.

Molly: I wanted to take part because it is an amazing opportunity to experience performing on a main stage with a professional team. It is also a place to meet friends with similar interests.

Henry: I’ve done plays before with the theatre.

Pearl: To hang out with Henry!

What do you love about performing? Will this be your first time performing on our Main House Stage?

Harper: I love how confident I get to be and making people happy. It’s my first time!

Gaia: The confidence I get performing as a different person.

Molly: This will be my first time performing on the main stage. When performing I like to play bold, overdramatic characters. I also love experimenting with movement and voice.

Henry: The acting and being on stage. No, but I’ve performed a few times with my school.

Pearl: I love becoming different characters. I’ve performed on stage with school a few times.

What are you most excited about?

Harper: To see the show come together.

Gaia: Seeing the community come together and make a show.

Molly: I’m looking forward to stage combat as I have never done it before.

Henry: Going backstage!

Pearl: Sword fighting!

In three words how would you describe the show?

Harper: Fun, sad, exciting.

Gaia: Magical, mysterious, funny.

Molly: Fun, unique, magical.

Henry: Magic, relaxed, funny.

Pearl: Funny, fun and relaxed.

If you could spend one day in Neverland, what would you do?

Harper: Fly and explore!

Gaia: I would talk with the fairies and probably party with the pirates.

Molly: Learn how to fly, kill a pirate!

Henry: Fight Smee!

Pearl: Talk to the birds and the mermaids!

Why should people come and see the show?

Harper: It’s so cool and we are putting a lot of work into it.

Gaia: As it’s funny, entertaining and heartfelt.

Molly: The cast is peak and we have worked hard!

Henry: It’s fun and relaxed! There are good people doing it.

Pearl: It will be funny, fun to watch and I’m in it!

Wendy and Peter Pan is at York Theatre Royal from 03 – 05 September.
