Join multi-award-winning, internationally acclaimed Cabaret superstar Velma Celli at York Theatre Royal. Fresh from her iconic appearance on Coronation Steet, Velma Celli is back, with an overindulgent evening celebrating (and reimagining) the best of Rock Classics.
The alter ego of West End star Ian Stroughair, who has appeared in hit musicals Cats, Fame, Chicago and Rent, to which he received critical acclaim. Velma Celli “The UK’s Queen of live vocal drag” has been charming audiences for the past 14 years.
Recently Velma’s A Brief History of Drag entertained audiences across the globe on a tour which included Australia (Best Cabaret Nomination in Perth), 54 Below in NYC and a sell-out UK tour ending in a smash hit run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Velma’s show My Divas won Best Cabaret at Fringeworld and Divalussion, which he co-wrote and starred alongside Christina Bianco won the ThreeWeek Editors’ award.
Velma appeared on BBC’s Eastenders for a very special guest episode playing herself, starred opposite Danny Dyer in the music short Nebraska, performed in concerts with pop icon Anastacia and West End and Broadway legends including Ruthie Henshall, Kerry Ellis and Frances Ruffelle.
