An adaptation of a gothic classic
Writer and performer Christopher Leslie returns this October with his haunting one-man adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic ‘bogey tale,’ re-titled Jekyll & Hyde: Unbound.
Gabriel John Utterson, the once-respected lawyer, now lives a sheltered life, surrounded by shadows and haunted by the memories of a dark forgotten past. On this night, he invites you into the house that he is custodian of, formally occupied by his friend and former client, Doctor Henry Jekyll.
Over the years, rumours surround their sudden estrangement, along with that of Jekyll’s mysterious disappearance. What was it that tore these two men apart, and who exactly is the shadowy figure of Mr. Hyde who was once trusted to be Jekyll’s heir and executor to his whole fortune and estate?
Tonight, Utterson finally speaks. He will reveal a chilling tale of suspense, intrigue, friendship, identity, murder and betrayal! It is a strange case, which deals with the darkness of the human psyche and asks a simply question of us all; are we really who we appear to be? Prepare to be kept on the edge of your seat.
The invitation has been sent. You are expected.
This event will be taking place at York Medical Society, 23 Stonegate, York, YO1 8AW. The building has steps at the main entrance, but if you require step-free access, please contact Box Office to arrange this via an alternative entrance.
