We are committed to making all of our events as accessible and affordable as possible. We have decided that having a range of ticket prices is the best way to allow everyone to be able to purchase a ticket within their financial reach whilst also ensuring that we are able to continue running events.
We ask everyone to be honest about their financial situation. If you purchase a ticket at the lowest price point when you could afford a higher ticket price, it makes it harder for SLAP to provide financial flexibility to those who most need it.
Our ticket brackets are £3, £6, £9 and £12, choose the amount you would like to pay.
We will never ask you to prove your financial situation just pick the amount that feels best for you.
Tea & Tolerance
Tea & Tolerance Café
York Theatre Royal Café, 3pm-6pm, FREE
Conversation is the glue that unites us. Talking and listening is right at the heart of our relationships. But so often we never get to discuss things that are important to us, and we feel like we can’t be heard.
Tea and Tolerance is an engaging, interactive activity designed to bring people together through conversation. A roaming tea trolley delivers piping hot topics not tea, and dishes out dialogue rather than digestives. The questions offer a catalyst for conversation. But remember nothing is compulsory and everything recommended.
This performance is durational. You can turn up at any point until 6pm, no booking is required.
I Am Mixed
An Intimate Storytelling Experience
Keregan Room, 3pm & 5pm
This autobiographical performance details the experience growing up ‘mixed race’ in Bradford. From harrowing to heroine, the eclectic mix of stories from Siara’s experience highlight the strength of tribe and celebrates the vast differences and similarities in her British Irish/Scottish/Pakistani heritage.
Through laughter and tears Siara will take you on a journey of empowered women, intolerance, love, izzat, tradition and achievement while enjoying something guaranteed to bring a family together…FOOD.
Binaural Dinner Date
An interactive performance
York Theatre Royal Café, 3pm & 5pm
Following a sell-out tour, internationally acclaimed ZU-UK is bringing interactive performance Binaural Dinner Date to SLAP.
Across the table, within arms reach is another human being. Is this the one? How many questions need to be asked before you feel like you are getting to know each other?
With a waiter that Waits and a Chef to guide you what’s the worst that could happen?
Part interactive performance, part dating agency, Binaural Dinner Date invites individuals looking for love, existing couples or those who simply want a very different dating experience to be the date.
An Interactive Experience
Levantes Dance Theatre’s popular Canapé Art walkabout features a pair of performers in exquisite identical costumes, make up and headgear. Dressed to impress, the delightful pair mingle with the public, creating beautiful and unique, edible tattoos on hands, arms and faces. Suitable for everyone from curious adults to inquisitive tots. Expect bright sugar icing, marshmallows, a bit of silliness, edible beads, sequins and lots of glitter!
This performance will take place in various locations in the building. No need to book, just turn up!
Teastain Theatre Company
The Studio, 7pm
Messy Eaters is a quirky, rhyming response to the silly sides of food: from Waitrose Turkeys, to diet culture.
Everyone’s making a mess. Newly weds Charles and Mabel spend Christmas with the in- laws, God, and a deadly secret. Shirley and Kevin reach boiling point, whilst stressed student Emma gains a keen tea guest who forgets his table manners. Meanwhile, Ryan just doesn’t understand how girlfriend Abby likes her eggs in the morning.
With five interlinking short plays on the menu, Messy Eaters is jam packed with current, juicy chaos.
CLAY'S Cabaret Night
The De Grey Rooms, 8pm
York, we hope you hungry baby.
CLAY, hailing from the city of Leodis, bring an exquisite feast to the De Grey Rooms in York Theatre Royal. We be rolling round in caviar, looking for a real good Hollywood Handshake (wink). Expect small plates of performance, porky party games and delicious dancing.
Dry Hump is back for a 3rd iteration for our silliest (sexiest?) and most anarchy opulent night yet. Can you crash this sumptuous feast of delights? With prizes to be won you won’t want to miss out. Dress to distress.
