Solo, Duo, Squad by Jonathan Hall
Set around a fictitious online game ‘Game of Survival’ – the story follows Ab as she tries to traverse her way through her online and offline life. She loves playing games online but is it at the expense of real interaction with real people? What happens if the lines are blurred between reality and fiction and neither seem quite right?
Solo, Duo, Squad explores the challenges young people (and parents) face with an increasing life spent online.
Project P from York Theatre Royal’s Youth Theatre are taking part in this year’s Playhouse Festival and are excited to be presenting this world premiere.
Playhouse is a national collaboration between Theatre Royal Plymouth, Birmingham Rep and York Theatre Royal. Each year, these three theatres commission professional playwrights to write plays for large casts of young people aged 8 to 11 years. Previous writers include Julia Donaldson, Mike Kenny, David Wood and Philip Ridley. The project provides high-quality teacher training – and not just in theatre skills, but in supporting dynamic teaching within the classroom. Each theatre works with schools in their city and supports the development of the teacher as a director. Schools will work towards performances of these brand new plays that will be performed in our Studio in July.
