MUSIC COMMEMORATING THE SIEGE OF YORK 1644.
For 12 weeks during the summer of 1644, the Royalist city of York was besieged by the armies of Scotland and Parliament. We trace the course of the Civil War with music from the war court of Charles I and songs performed in York Minster during the Siege.
This concert is one of several events that are part of a day-long commemoration of the Siege of York promoted by the choir.
This concert also marks the launch of the choir’s new CD, of music from the English Civil War. Copies will be available to purchase at the concert.
For more information about the other events happening that day run by the choir see our website http://www.eborsingers.org/
