Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball musical romantic comedy involving the unlikeliest of Manhattan pairings: a high-rolling gambler and a puritanical missionary, a showgirl dreaming of the straight-and-narrow and a crap game manager who is anything but.
The story takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, through a wonderful score by Frank Loesser, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.
Songs include the iconic: A Bushel and a Peck; Guys and Dolls; Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat; Marry the Man Today, and of course, Luck Be a Lady.
York Light last produced Guys and Dolls at York Theatre Royal in 1988, we are delighted to revive it 30 years later as the show remains an ever-popular favourite.
