Black Box Showcase 2

The Black Box Showcase is an opportunity to see three exciting companies share their work. Each company will present an extract of their new project, to give audiences insight into the process of making contemporary performance. All three companies are making this work at, or with, York Theatre Royal and would welcome informal feedback during the evening.

Upper Foyer - 6.15pm

- Drip by Tom Wells

Studio - 7.45pm

- Tensile Strength by Holly Gallagher (work in-progress)

- On The Outskirts Of A Large Event by The Bare Project (work in-progress)

Drip

A new one-man musical comedy.

Liam is 15. He can’t swim. But he’s an optimist, so he’s just signed up for Bev Road Baths’ first ever synchronised swimming team.

Tensile Strength

A performance about Stress. And figuring out why so many of us feel it to an unhealthy degree. It's about fear, pressure, uncertainty. It's about sadness and mental health and how we help ourselves. It's about feeling like things are all A Bit Too Much and then the cat goes missing.

This is a show about the world we live in now, and will prove essential viewing in a society that just can't seem to relax anymore.

On The Outskirts Of A Large Event

An iceberg arrives at a tropical island. The inhabitants search for someone to blame for the unlikely visitor; this is a place where scapegoating is a reflex.

On the Outskirts of a Large Event mixes cinematic projection, surround sound and spoken word to form a piece of theatre as strange and bright as a lump of ice.
