BERWICK TAKES TO THE ‘STAGE’

York Theatre Royal’s world-famous panto dame Berwick Kaler took to the ‘stage’ yesterday, when he paid a visit to the building site to see how work is progressing on the theatre.

Full Cast Announced for Panto

York Theatre Royal is pleased to announce the full cast line-up for this extraordinary year’s pantomime, Dick Whittington (and his meerkat).

Panto Search for Female Stars

The theatre is looking for talented girls to take part in the country’s most famous pantomime alongside the UK’s longest running pantomime dame Berwick Kaler.

Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime pantomime!

This year, our world-famous panto will be taking place at The Signal Box Theatre at the National Railway Museum. The theatre is currently closed for redevelopment so for one year only, we’re moving our home. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the UK’s longest-serving pantomime dame Berwick Kaler and the York Theatre Royal panto gang as you’ve never seen them before!

The Signal Box Theatre is a 1,000-seat auditorium we have built in the South Yard of the museum. Fully insulated and heated to keep you warm and cosy in the winter months. You will sit on either side of a central stage, and with only 10 rows of seats from front to back, you’ll be even closer to the action than ever before!

Hot food from the Real Beef Burger Company will be on offer at evening performances in our festive South Yard and we will be providing cover from the winter elements.  Our friendly welcome team will also be on hand to direct you to the theatre. Plus with parking for just £3 and free entry to the National Railway Museum during the day, you can really make a day of your visit! As always, expect fabulous costumes, stunning sets, toe-tapping music, breathtaking transformations and magical spectacle. The script will remain the same old rubbish – we are only changing venues, not the habit of a lifetime!
