What is it?
TAKEOVER ‘09 is a new festival where young people (under 26s) take control of York Theatre Royal for three weeks and handle the programming and running of the building! If you’ve
ever wondered what it must be like to work in a theatre then this is your chance
to find out!
What can I do?
Lots of stuff!!! The theatre needs
all sorts of people to stay open; directors to accountants, lighting technicians
to administrators, cooks to marketing executives - even people to design
leaflets like this one. All of these roles are available for you to have
a go at!
Examples...
Damian is Artistic Director of York Theatre Royal. If you took up his
job as part of TAKEOVER ‘09 your roles might include seeing lots of theatre,
programming shows for the two theatre spaces, casting plays, working with
designers and
other creative folk and maybe even directing a play!
Anna is York Theatre Royal’s Stage Manager. The Stage Manager is part of
the production department and is responsible for a huge amount of important
things
including finding props, organising cast members and running shows! You need
to be organised, aware and conscientious for this essential role!
Can I join
in?
Yes you can! All you need to be is aged between 11 and
26. Just fill in
the form on the back of the downloadable flyer and we’ll contact you! Oh
and don’t
forget that York Theatre Royal will be giving you full support in your
job throughout
the
festival. Also if you’d like to be part of a planning group for this project
then let us know and we’ll get you involved in overseeing the whole project!
The Boring Bit!!!
- You must be under 26 and over 11.
- If you are part of the planning group then meetings will take place out
