The date of this years danceathon is to be confirmed within the next week

Returning for a second year, York Theatre Royal will be hosting a fundraising Dance-a-thon in aid of much needed repairs to the main stage.

You could be one of hundreds of people who will dance in the De Grey Rooms Ball Room from morning ‘til night. Whatever your age, whatever your talent try your hand at turn of the century Ceilidh Dancing, spicy Salsa and Latin American, 1920s and 1930s Jazz, glamorous ‘40s Ballroom, 1950s Rock ‘N’ Roll, 1990s Hip Hop or classic Disco.

Each class will be taught by professionals, so while you experience something new and take part in this brilliant event, you can help raise money to allow everyone to experience and enjoy these spectacular facilities.

To play your part in this exciting and important event follow these four simple steps:

  1. Register for a dance style and slot, or commit dancing for the whole  10½  hours online or by calling the box office on 01904 623568.
  2. Pay your £5 registration fee.
  3. Receive your sponsorship pack and collect your donations.*
  4. Come and dance the style of your choice under professional instruction and help us provide an amazing theatre experience.

11:30 Hip Hop and Street
13:00 1950s Rock ‘n’ Roll
14:30 1940s Ballroom
16:00 1920s and 1930s Jazz
17:30 Salsa and Latin American
19:00 Ceilidh Dancing

A note about booking online

Please not that only 1 session can be booked online. If you wish to take part in more sessions (or Dance All Day) please contact Box Office on 01904 623568.

The sessions are listed by time, so please check and double check you are signing up for the correct session.
