Students to showcase talents at York Theatre Royal in very special performance
Through an exciting new partnership between York Theatre Royal and the National Deaf Children’s Society, the Deaf and Hearing Summer Theatre School, now in its 9th successful year, offers greater opportunities at a national level for 40 young people, both deaf and hearing, aged 13-18, to take part in all aspects of professional theatre. The Summer School also provides a training ground for adult deaf and hearing practitioners, technicians, interpreters and volunteer community workers who have an interest in mainstream and integrated theatre. On the 18 August (7pm) & 19 August (1pm) there will be a public performance in the Main House by students of the school who will perform a devised pieced entitled On The Run.

The Big Bad Wolf vs Little Red Riding Hood – The Trial of the Year

York Theatre Royal to offer free workshops and discounted tickets
York Theatre Royal, in partnership with The FA, is offering discounted tickets (£3.50, max 30) followed by workshops for our new production of Gaffer! The workshops will be held on Thursday 18th November and Thursday 25th November, both between 6-8.30pm. They will involve exploring discrimination within football and society, facing up to prejudice in all its forms, shifting attitudes and finally respecting different choices and diverse cultures. The workshops will led by FA endorsed practitioners and representatives.

York Theatre Royal to host regional Youth Theatre Festival
The cream of the region's young actors will come together this month at York Theatre Royal to take part in one of the regions largest celebrations of Youth Theatre, the Shell Connections Festival 2004. The festival, which features performances of newly commissioned plays by some of the country's leading playwrights, will premiere in the Studio theatre from the 27 Apr -8 May.

Already a staggering 6,000 seats have gone in the first 3 days, smashing last years record for Mother Goose Silver Jubilee. Next month, York Theatre Royal will be staging the World Premiere of David Hare’s new play The Permanent Way, a joint production between the award winning Out of Joint Theatre Company and The National Theatre. The play uses real life stories in its examination of one of Britain’s most loved – and loathed – institutions – the railways. This eagerly anticipated play runs from the 13th – 15th November.
