Our next production is yet to be confirmed but information will be posted up as soon as possible.
York Theatre Royal Young Actors Company (YAC) was created for 18-25 year olds with the objective of providing performance opportunities for young adults, acting as a bridge and insight into the professional industry (previous alumini have studied at Central School of Speech and Drama, Italia Conti, The Oxford School of Drama, ALRA, East 15 and Mountview). The artistic vision of the company has a specific focus on new, contemporary and site-specific work. The company is fully supported by the theatre’s in-house resources and is run by artistic director Julian Ollive, the theatre’s Education and Young Actors Associate.
The YAC produced its first works for the York Youth Mysteries in June 2008, followed by a new devised piece called An Exact Science? which explored the ethics of genetics. YAC produced Equus in the main house for the TakeOver 09 festival, Terrorism by The Presnyakov Brothers, Elsewhere in collaboration with Belt Up Theatre, Celebrating Severus at the Yorkshire Museum, Little Angels, a new play by York writer Hannah Davies and How to Disappear Completely and Never be Found by Fin Kennedy. My Shoes are pointier than yours was our penultimate production hosted in The Yorkshire Museum in July last year. YAC works on a project by project basis through auditions so we are always looking for new company members when a new project arrives.
OUR LAST PRODUCTION. Our last production was Me, as a Penguin by Tom Wells, on in our studio theatre from June 19 - 22nd. This was performed by a companion female monologue called Spacewang also by Tom Wells.
