Your privacy – our promise

Any personal data you give us will be used to send you a brochure, fulfil an enquiry, make a booking or send you appropriate marketing offers. It will then stored securely on our database for a reasonable period of time. We promise to only send you relevant and timely marketing communications and we will give you the opportunity to receive some or all of these communications.

Please see below for more information if you wish to Opt-out to receiving further communications. Please allow us up to one month to process all data regarding your opt-out.

York Theatre Royal – controller of personal data

For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998, we, York Theatre Royal are a data controller. In order to process your booking or brochure request we need to collect certain personal details from you. These details will include, where applicable, your name and contact details and those of party members, credit/debit card or other payment details and special requirements such as those relating to any disability which may affect your chosen arrangement.

Storage of personal data

We would like to store and use your personal details for future marketing purposes (for example sending you a brochure or details of a promotion). All details you give us in connection with your booking will be kept but we will only use name and contact details for marketing purposes (unless you have asked us not to).

Your decision to opt-out

If you do not want us to do any of these things, please let us know as soon as possible. We are entitled to assume you do not object to our doing any of the things mentioned in this statement unless you tell us otherwise in writing or in any other approved manner. However, please allow up to one month for us to process all data regarding your privacy choices.

You are entitled to ask us (by letter or email) what details of yours are being held or processed by us, for what purposes and to whom they may be or have been disclosed. We promise to respond to your request within 40 days of receiving your written request. If you believe that any of your personal details which we are holding are incorrect or inaccurate please let us know immediately. Please note a fee of up to £10 may be charged for this service.

This privacy statement covers websites owned and controlled by us only. Links to other websites and any information collected by these sites are not covered by this privacy statement. We would encourage you to re-read our privacy statement from time to time so that you are aware of any changes in how we gather and use personal information.

Booking Terms and Conditions

How to Pay: We accept cash, cheque, debit or credit cards. Tickets booked over the phone can be posted to you for £1. Online bookings will be held at the Box
Office for collection.

Reserving Tickets: You can reserve tickets for 4 days. If you have unpaid tickets on reserve please collect them at least 30 mins before the performance as
reserved tickets may be released for re-sale after that point.

Exchanging Tickets: We must have the tickets at Box Office to perform a re-sale or exchange. We are unable to refund tickets but will aim to do our best to
re-sell them. Please note that our own unsold tickets will take priority. Provided we have the tickets at least 24 hours before the performance we will exchange them for other tickets of equivalent value for an admin fee of £1 per ticket (free to members). No ticket refunds will be given on the announcement of a subsequent special offer.

Concessions: apply to Over 60s, those in receipt of means tested benefits and students & u25s (Stalls & Dress Circle). £2 off standard tickets in the Stalls, Dress Circle and Upper Circle. Includes matinees and studio performances.

Registered Disabled: customers £10 (Tue – Thu Main House and Tue – Sat Studio) £12 (Fri & Sat Main House) where available.

Schools may claim 1 teacher ticket free with every 10 pupils over 8, 1 in 5 free with pupils 8 years and under. Additional teacher tickets can be purchased at £8 when accompanying a school party. Cream tea matinees are £18 and include a ticket, programme and a cream tea where available. Groups 10+ are entitled to a discount of £2 off per ticket. This excludes matinee performances

Access: We are committed to making our performances as accessible as possible. We have wheelchair spaces available in the stalls (Main House)
and in the Studio. Please state at the time of booking if a wheelchair seat is required. There are accessible toilets and baby changing facilities. We have a wireless system for audio described performances and the hard of hearing (please collect relevant equipment from box office) and also programme signed and captioned performances. Companion tickets are available and access dogs are admitted. Touch Tours can be booked 24hrs in advance of an Audio Described performance.

Latecomers: Latecomers may be asked to wait until a suitable break in the performance before taking their seats. On some occasions it may be impossible to admit latecomers until the interval. Please note for Studio performances without an interval, latecomers will not be admitted at any stage due to the layout of
the performance area. York Theatre Royal has a customer services policy.

Tickets cannot be refunded unless the event is cancelled. Tickets can be exchanged to another performance subject to availability on payment of a small transaction charge. Latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance. No smoking, photography or recording in the auditorium. The management reserve the right to refuse admission.
