TakeOver Festival

Every year the York Theatre Royal Team hand over the reigns to a new TakeOver team who are responsible for running everything from the programming of shows and events, to promoting them, to managing backstage.

Four years in, TakeOver has become a regular fixture in the theatre's calendar, and it just gets better and better. The TakeOver programme is aimed at audiences of all ages, and we pride ourselves on offering the sort of theatrical diversity that can be summed up in our mission statement:

‘a festival organised by young people for the whole community to enjoy and take part in’

We want to embrace the community that has so willingly given us the ability to act as fully-fledged theatre practitioners while most of us are still at school or university.

Most of this year's TakeOver team is already in place, but occasionally new opportunities to get involved come along on the Jobs page.

Can't be involved this year? Don't worry! Each year we recruit the whole team a-fresh, so if you will still be 25 or under next year, keep your eyes open for the application forms.
