Two futuristic science students race against time to prove their knowledge of energy. They explore, experiment and explode anything and everything they can find, live on stage.

Adapted by Sea Legs Puppet Theatre

Travel with Rob and his suitcase full of surprises into deepest darkest Russia, to old man Prokofiev's house in the woods where lives the big, hungry Wolf.

Meet world famous characters: young Peter and his Grandfather, the supercilious Cat, the silly Duck, quick-witted Redbird, Ivan and Boris the blundering hunters and of course…. the big hungry Wolf.

An energetic and fun adaptation told with the use of Sea Legs' wonderfully creative puppets, Rob's superb storytelling and a brilliant musical score, the audience is hooked from the start as they are led into an enchanting storybook world.

Wizard Presents has created a magical, interactive show set in a library filled with books. Bring your own children’s book to become part of the set and swap it for another at the end.

After the overwhelming success of The Enormous Turnip, Stuff and Nonsense return to York.

Sat in his kitchen workshop, Sam Lacey makes terrible shoes and tries to sell them online. They are so bad that no-one really wants them, not even his neighbour (who thinks he should give up and get a real job!). Then one night, two tiny visitors climb in through the window and start cutting and stitching and gluing… and Sam’s life is never quite the same again!

Theatre Day – Monday’s Child

Suitable for Reception – Year 2 (activities are adapted for each year group)

Spend the whole day with us exploring the themes of the story in a variety of different practical ways including a theatre tour, learning skills used in the rehearsal process, exploring the characters and story, and a craft activity. Then watch the 1.30pm show.

Explore a storybook through arts, crafts and creative play. Parents are encouraged to join in, listen to and be led by their inventive children. We like to make birds’ nests, mix royal chocolate cakes, train to be jewel thieves, build space rockets, save Grannies, advise lost dragons, bake bread, stick fingers in moon dust, dance, sing, hide, seek and have lots and lots of adventures! Come and join in the fun at Storymakers.

Den Making

For all the family

Kids love making dens! So come and join this fantastic participatory session that will enable everyone to make exciting environments from bamboo canes to fabric and then use them for who knows what? Den making develops construction skills, co-operation and gives freedom to the imagination. Best of all it is great fun!

Outer Space Creations!

Free for all the family

Making rockets out of cardboard boxes, tubes, glue and paper is one of those joys that

you never grow out of (well we festival organisers haven’t). Come along and see what fantastical creations you can make around the theme of space - intergalactic stars, space stations, rockets or spaceships - whatever takes your fancy, just get creating.

When: All day, every day

So complete your day by tucking in to some delicious space goodies such as Mini Moon Burgers, Constellation Cupcakes, Sandwich Stars, Fruit Skewer Rockets, the Big Dipper (tortilla chips with chilli), Pizza Planet and the Milky Way frozen milkshakes.
