Catalyst funding for York Theatre Royal

The Arts Council have today announced that York Theatre Royal and Pilot Theatre are two of 173 organisations who have been successful in their bid for Catalyst funds. Catalyst is a capacity building and match funding scheme which will enable arts organisations to build their fundraising capacity.

The programme is made up of investment from Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

York Theatre Royal and Pilot Theatre, who are based in the neighbouring De Grey House, have been awarded £225,000 over 3 years to support a programme of fundraising initiatives which will result in greater investment in creating new work and new opportunities for artists, as well as building on the ability to involve more of the community in creative and artistic activity.

York Theatre Royal are delighted that we have been successful in our bid for Catalyst funds. Our application with Pilot Theatre Company demonstrated our commitment to partnership work. It is our ambition to strengthen and build on all the fantastic work we have been doing in York and beyond over the last few years. We look forward to working with our community to realise the potential for a vibrant and sustainable future.'

A Pilot Theatre spokesperson added “We welcome the opportunity this additional funding gives us and our partner, York Theatre Royal, to create a whole range of activities involving our communities, both local, regional and national. We are delighted that our way of collaborative working has been recognised by this award,   providing a great platform to raise the cultural ambition and profile of the arts not only in York but across the country.”
