The Autumn season at York Theatre Royal is now on sale.
There are lots of highlights between now and the start of Panto (only 5 months away...), including the premier of Alan Sillitoe's The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, adapted by Roy Williams and presented by Pilot Theatre, Susan Watkins' The Guinea Pig Club, and York Theatre Royal Youth Theatre's production of the thrilling stage adaptation of Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials (Part 1). There is also a comedy double-bill in the studio - David Ireland's End Of Desire and Matthew Pegg's Escaping Alice.
Touring shows that are coming to York Theatre Royal include a new tour of Bouncers, Written and Directed by John Godber, Phoenix Dance Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Company’s Young People’s King Lear (Directed by Tim Crouch) and Northern Broadside/Harrogate Theatre’s version of A Government Inspector.
There is a very full programme in the studio as well this season.
Building on the work of ICAN (the International Centre for Arts and Narrative which has been set up by York Theatre Royal and York St John University), there are three Performance Storytelling events between Sep and Dec, and two special Studio Talks on Narrative (see the ICAN page for more details)
Visiting companies to the studio range from off-beat performance poetry, to Shakespeare, puppetry and comedy.
We are looking forward to an exciting and varied Autumn season this year. And don’t forget to book for York Theatre Royal’s famous family pantomime – Robin Hood and His Merry Mam! which opens on Thu 13 Dec.
See the whole season online here or pick up a brochure in the Theatre or in other venues around the region, and get booking – either online, over the phone (01904 623568) or in the Box Office.
