Have you got the panto factor? Are you aged between 8 and 11 years old and less than 5’0” (1.5m) tall, then why not audition for a part in a rather special Christmas Pantomime at York Theatre Royal?
York Theatre Royal is looking for talented young people to appear in our pantomime, Sinbad the Sailor alongside Berwick and the gang. Some acting experience would be useful and you must enjoy dancing and singing.
Rehearsals will take place during the three weeks beginning 19th November, mostly evenings and weekends. There will be two teams of young people who will alternate performances. There are 68 performances between Thursday 14th December 2007 and Saturday 2nd February 2007. There will be some midweek matinee performances during term time. There will be no performances on Tuesday 25th December and on Sunday 16, 23, 30th December and 6, 13, 20 and 27 January.
If you would like to join the cast and feel that you and your family can make the commitment required for the pantomime, do come along and audition.
Registration will take place in the upper foyer of York Theatre Royal on Saturday 6 October from 2.30pm onwards.
Surnames A – J register at 2.30pm in upper foyer
Audition 3.00 to 3.45pm in the De Grey rooms next to the theatre
Surnames K – Z register at 4pm in the upper foyer
Audition 4.30pm-5.15pm in the De Grey rooms next to the theatre
Please note: You will need to bring a passport sized photograph and wear clothes you can run and roll about in and soft shoes (trainers, plimsolls or dance shoes). During the audition you will be asked to dance and sing in a group, and you may be asked to sight read from a script, but no preparation is required.
There is no need to contact the Theatre about the auditions in advance – just turn up on the day. York Theatre Royal staff will be at the auditions to answer any queries you may have.
A staggering 20,000 tickets have already been sold for what is guaranteed to be one of the region’s best pantomimes this Christmas.
