************************* York Theatre Royal is looking for people to get involved in one of the strangest ever Christmas world record. As pantomime season draws nearer and nearer the Theatre is looking for people to get involved in a world record for the most pantomime dames in one place at one time. This quirky Guinness world record™ attempt will take place on Saturday 15th December at 12 noon at the West End at the York Minster. The official count will be done at 12.30pm. It was decided by the staff at York Theatre Royal that it would be a great idea to get everyone into the Christmas spirit by setting a world record and also have some fun that everyone can get involved in. According to the Guinness Book of World Records™ there has never been a record set for this, so if you fancy helping us set this new record we would love for you to join in. Traditionally the preserve of men in frocks, the delights of damehood are now opening up to women and children… Striking a blow for equal opportunities (and in no way trying to boost numbers any way it can) York Theatre Royal is extending this invitation to the WHOLE family, whatever age and whatever gender. The only requirement is a commitment to going seriously over the top. All welcome!” York's legendary pantomime dame, Berwick Kaler, who is appearing in Sinbad The Sailor at York Theatre Royal, said: “Christmas is all about getting the family together and pantomimes are one of the best ways to do this. I think it is a wonderful and crazy idea and I really hope that hundreds of people get dressed as dames. I might just have to watch my back in case anyone’s after my job. It should be an exciting and colourful event.” If you would like to get involved in this Guinness world record™ all you will need to do is dress up as a pantomime dame and come along to the West End at York Minster on Saturday 15 December at 12 noon. **************************
