This March York Theatre Royal will be hosting the world première of Blame, the latest compelling and provocative play from two of the country’s leading playwrights Beatrix Campbell and Judith Jones. To preview the eagerly awaited production, the Theatre will be hosting a public launch on Thursday 8th February at 5.30pm with an opportunity to hear from the writers and cast about the play. Tickets for the launch are free.
Blame exposes snapshots of life for an 8 year old girl living in a Hackney tower block flat amongst a dysfunctional community caught up in drug culture. When she goes missing the story turns to question who exactly is responsible for the welfare of this little girl. Each character has their problems and reasons for shifting responsibility but ultimately who is to Blame? Based on the real life experiences of social commentators Judith Jones and Beatrix Campbell, Blame exposes the devastating consequences of the decline of the working class and the hope for regeneration.
If you are interested in the themes and issues the play explores, if you’re open to discussions and have views or experiences to share then come and have a listen and join in the debate. The launch will also focus on the process of writing and creating new theatre and the relevance of theatre to social change. There will be the opportunity to ask questions, find out more about the play and to access educational resource information.
The excellent cast will feature Lindsey Coulson (Carol Jackson from Eastenders), Andrew Paul (PC Dave Quinnan from The Bill), Sandra Yaw, Katie Wimpenny (Shameless) and Nicholas Beveney.
If you would like to attend the free launch please contact Duncan Clarkeor email marketing@yorktheatreroyal.co.uk
Blame runs at York Theatre Royal from 3-17 March.
