Humphrey Lyttelton's long and distinguished career makes him one of the foremost Jazz musicians in the country. He has worked with many great performers including Elkie Brooks, Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, George Melly, Stacey Kent and Louis Armstrong. In 2004 Humphrey Lyttelton celebrated 50 years as a bandleader, with a band that he ranks as one of the very best of his career. Its hallmark is versatility reflected in a repertoire which extends from early traditional to modern by way of Ellington and Basie. The band's range is also shown by the cast-list of artistes whom it has accompanied in concerts over the years, amongst them Buck Clayton and Buddy Tate, singers Jimmy Rushing, Marie Knight, Big Joe Turner, Elkie Brooks, Helen Shapiro and Stacey Kent. Humphrey Lyttelton is busier today than ever. His band, one of the most versatile in the world, still tours regularly. Every Monday night since 1967 has found him on BBC Radio Two, purveying The Best of Jazz on record. Nowadays when people say ‘I enjoy your radio show …’, they are as likely to mean the anarchic BBC panel game I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue in which he has played the role of reluctant chairman since 1972, and which won the best radio comedy show in 1995 and again in 2002.He has been presented with the Gold Award for services to broadcasting and the Waterford Crystal Award for outstanding contribution to the entertainment business. Since forming her first group in the early 1990s, Tina May’s astonishing vocal ability and hypnotic stage presence has won her worldwide acclaim.
