************************* Dusk Productions, a York based theatre company dedicated to new writing, have teamed up with York Theatre Royal to present a double bill of their plays Second Bounce and Return of the Actor, written and performed by Tom Cantrell and Michael Lightfoot, and directed by Kate Lovell. The plays are going to be performed in The Studio on the 18th and 19th July before the company tour Return of the Actor to the Edinburgh Fringe. The plays could not be more different, one a poignant look at missed opportunity, the other an hilarious farce proving that, even with the best of intentions, things can still go terribly wrong. Second Bounce is a play about choices. Two old friends meet for their school reunion. David, well off and successful, stays with Luke, who apart from juggling equipment and a mislaid piece of heather, has nothing. As the tension increases, and the facades are stripped, long avoided decisions have to be made. Return of the Actor is a riotous comedy following a tragic half hour in the lives of two well-meaning backstage assistants. A well-known British Shakespearean actor arrives to give a talk about his experiences. However, what he has not bargained for is the sheer life-threatening incompetence of his helpers. Dusk Productions was founded in 2004 and is a company of three recent graduates, Kate Lovell, Tom Cantrell and Michael Lightfoot. They are currently working on a sitcom with BBC Radio and developing new ideas with York Theatre Royal, as well as all writing new plays.
