So it’s out with the old and in with the new, as the Theatre prepares for its ever-popular Costume Sale, which will take place on the main stage at York Theatre Royal on Saturday 24 June between 10am – 4pm. Pauline Rourke, Costume Hire Supervisor says previous sales have proved hugely popular: "In the past people have come from all over to purchase a piece of theatre history. You can pick up such an extraordinary range of garments from period, retro and vintage costumes to comic items such as pantomime attire. Berwick Kaler's hilarious frocks are always much in demand!" The Theatre will be looking for new homes and loving owners for a number of costumes that have at one time graced York Theatre Royal’s stage.
